Shoe heaven: record 100000 pairs on sale Including Havaianas Flip Flops in Selfridges

Welcome to our Havaianas Flip Flops blog. We update this blog daily with news and information about the wonderful Havaianas flip flops. Be sure to check out our Havaianas Flip Flops Page HERE which has photos, videoes and information about the famous Havaianas.
Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops; The title once belonged to Saks Fifth Avenue in the heart of Carrie Bradshaw's New York stamping ground. Then last year the Galeries Lafayette in Paris took sole possession of the crown.
But from today the world's biggest women's shoe department, all 35,000 square feet of it, lies in the heart of the West End, occupying most of Selfridges' second floor.
The vast space, opened by Tamara Drewe star Gemma Arterton, has 5,000 pairs of shoes on display and up to 100,000 in stock ? enough to satisfy even the most obsessive shoe addict.
More than 150 brands are represented, from high street names such as River Island and Topshop to the world's best-known designers, including Jimmy Choo and Prada.
The prices range from a $25 pair of Havaianas flip-flops to $1,750 for a spectacular pair of platform Balenciagas.
The 10 million Shoe Galleries, said to be larger than Tate Modern's cavernous Turbine Hall, are arranged over six "salons", each with a different theme and look. They climb in price and exclusivity, from relatively accessible Rooms One and Two housing the high street names to designer label Room Six with views of gardens behind the Oxford Street department store.
They are surrounded by 11 boutiques, or "apartments" as Selfridges likes to call them, each reflecting the homes or lifestyle of the showcased designer.
For example, the Christian Louboutin room recreates his Paris home with a red carpet and digital print wallpaper and objets d'art such as a trompe l'oeil chandelier.
The Jimmy Choo room has the same gold foil ceiling and faux tusk table as the New York apartment of its designer Tamara Mellon.
But if the Selfridges Shoe Galleries can rightly claim to be the biggest women's footwear department on earth, they still lag a little way behind the world's biggest shoe shop.
That title belongs to the rather less glamorous, 36,000 square foot Reyers store in the town of Sharon, Pennsylvania.

Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
There’s always this feeling of excitement and fulfillment when you create something that is a beautiful piece of art. More so, when we’re talking about the best flip-flops worldwide, which is Havaianas.
Every Havaianas owner and lover has a story to tell about their prized possession.
This is the case in Iloilo City when the Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH) Roving Wall arrived in our metropolis.
At one time, the students of St. Paul University and Central Philippine University had fun sharing their MYOH stories. They were given paper slippers upon registration and they wrote their stories here and then posted them at the roving wall.
This is just one of the many awesome events we should expect from Havaianas this year.

Here's the latest news on Havaianas from Bing;

I don't really get homesick.  I miss family sometimes, but I wouldn't consider it homesickness.  But now that the holidays are coming up, I'm starting to think about all the things I need (want) to do while in California that I can't do here.  Like get a customized pair of Havaianas flip flops in Huntington Beach, home of the first U.S. store for the Brazilian maker of oh-so-cute but overpriced flip-flops.  Other stuff I want to indulge in while back home:
1.  Lots of cheap Asian food
I spent $4 on a banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) at Pho 79 on Jefferson.  During my last trip to Lynnhaven mall, I was super excited to find a boba shop (Jelly Ball) but refused to pay the $4 per cup.  In California, I get $1 bobas from Lollicup and $2.50 banh mi (always buy 2 get 1 free!) from Banh Mi & Che Cali in Orange County.  I could eat this combo all day, every day.
2.  Lots of cheap Mexican food
I can't find good Mexican food out here.  I've tried Plaza Azteca, El Azteca, El Rey, El Rancho, Guadalajara, 3 Amigos, and Abuelo's...I'm losing hope.  So when I'm home, I fill up on gigantic full-fat burritos.  All meat- no fillers like beans and rice like Chipotle.  Also, chips and salsa and NO (nasty Virginian) white sauce!
3.  Lots of cheap produce
I was at Fresh Market the other day and paid over $5 for 3 oranges.  The lady in front of me?  $9 for one bag of grapes.  I look forward to shopping at the large Mexican supermarkets where apples are $.33/lb and bananas are $.25/lb. If it wasn't for all the darn luggage fees, I'd haul a suitcase full of produce back to Hampton
4.  In-N-Out
I first had Five Guys while interning in Charlottesville and thought I was in fast-food heaven.  But I think I've reached the point of diminishing returns because I like the place less and less every time I eat there.  I love the unlimited free toppings (I always get BBQ sauce, A1, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos, and pickles), but the prices are too high and I don't like how my smallest option for fries is enough to feed a family of four.  In-N-Out is way cheaper and has animal-style burgers.  'Nuff said.
5.  Shopping "experiences"
Macarthur Center, Lynnhaven...eh.  City Center at Oyster Point...ugh.  Peninsula Town Center...slightly better, but I hate paying the additional "community development" tax.  One of my college professors once compared the Grove in Los Angeles to Disneyland.  Super-luxurious South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa has Asian tourist groups that plan their visits around the mall.
6.  Pretty people
Yes, there are pretty people everywhere.  But when you have a mecca of aspiring models and actors/actresses (El Lay), I think it's safe to assume that people there look better.  For example, here in Virginia, I consider myself a 7.  In California, a 5.  One time I was at a tourist shop at Union Station in Washington DC and a guy commented that I get extra points for hotness just because I'm from California.  Hey, I'll take what I can get.
There's more to California than just good food, good shopping, and good-looking people.  We also have tofu ninjas!

You don't see many of those here in the VA...

T-shirt maker Threadless weaves deal with Disney and is to Design Havaianas Flip Flops

Welcome to our Havaianas Flip Flops blog. We update this blog daily with news and information about the wonderful Havaianas flip flops. Be sure to check out our Havaianas Flip Flops Page HERE which has photos, videoes and information about the famous Havaianas.
Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
T-shirt maker Threadless has inked a deal with Walt Disney Co. in what the company hopes will be the first of many media partnerships.
Threadless, a division of Chicago-based SkinnyCorp LLC, is working with Walt Disney's motion picture unit to promote its movie "Tron: Legacy," to be released in December.
Tom Ryan, Threadless CEO, said the deal marks the company's "first step in working with the entertainment industry."
The Disney partnership builds on Threadless' crowdsource model in which people submit T-shirt designs that are voted on by visitors to Threadless.com. The most popular design — in this case, it must incorporate the theme of the movie, a sequel to the 1982 science fiction film — gets printed on a T-shirt that is then sold in limited quantities.
Threadless winners usually get a $2,000 cash prize, but the "Tron" winner will get $3,000.
Mr. Ryan declined to provide specifics of the partnership, including any financial terms, but said that his company was "looking to do this with Disney going forward on a regular basis."
Threadless began taking submissions last week and will continue to until Oct. 17.
It's been a busy year for 10-year-old Threadless, which has expanded its reach by teaming up with a number of companies. This summer, it agreed to design laptop lids for tech giant Dell Inc. and flip flops for shoemaker Havaianas. It recently launched a premium clothing line, with items costing $35 to $40, a higher price point than the typical $18 T-shirt it is known for.

Brazil's Bovespa Futures Rise on Economic Prospects; Real Gains - BusinessWeek

Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
Sept. 20 Brazil’s Bovespa stock-index futures advanced as metals prices rose and investors speculated economic growth won’t be stalled by a U.S. or European slowdown.
Vale SA, the world’s biggest iron ore producer, surged in U.S. trading as metals prices gained for a sixth day. Braskem SA, Latin America’s largest petrochemicals producer, may be active after saying its board approved the sale of perpetual bonds, without disclosing the amount. Sao Paulo Alpargatas SA may move after the maker of Havaianas flip-flops said it will get financing of 110.5 million reais ($64.5 million) from Brazil’s national development bank, known as BNDES.
Bovespa index futures rose 0.5 percent to 67,850 at 8:26 a.m. New York time. The Bovespa index on Sept. 17 dropped the most this month after U.S. consumer confidence unexpectedly fell, casting doubt on the strength of the economic recovery. The real gained 0.5 percent to 1.7135 per dollar, from 1.7213 on Sept. 17.
Brazilian economists expect the economy to grow 7.47 percent in 2010, from a previous estimate of 7.42 percent, according to a weekly survey by the central bank published today. Brazilian inflation will end 2011 at 4.95 percent, up from a week earlier forecast of 4.90 percent, the survey showed.

Havaianas revises Filipino street games - Philippine Star

Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
MANILA, Philippines –  Nothing beats the actual thrill of the game  which is exactly what Havaianas had in store when it held the Havaianas Playback Invitational last August hosted by TV personality Lia Cruz.
Sporting their favorite pair of Havaianas flip-flops, over a hundred college co-eds trekked to Power Plant Mall to compete in piko, sipa, Chinese garter, lakad bunot, tumbang preso and patintero.
Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, University of Sto. Tomas and University of Asia and the Pacific were represented by various college organizations.
“Havaianas Playback aims to revive the spirit of Filipino street games among the youth. It’s a good way to remind kids today of these much-loved games,” shared Anne Gonzalez, managing director of Havaianas Philippines.
“We are elated that we were able to participate in this competition and it was a great team building experience for us,” enthused the team captain of UP Industrial Engineering Club, Wesley Hontiveros, whose team won the competition and with it, P30,000.
UP EcoSoc, was second place and UST Mechanical Engineering Club, third place and UA&P Er+Go 2, fourth place.
Apart from the students, the director of Magna Kultura and head of the Palarong Pinoy, Ricardo Aguado, liked the initiative of Havaianas to bring Filipino street games back to life. “It’s good that they are reviving a cultural treasure, which is the Larong Pinoy.”

Michael Bastian+Havaianas: Two minds, One stylish collection at New York Fashion Week - Philippine Star Online

Welcome to our Havaianas Flip Flops blog. We update this blog daily with news and information about the wonderful Havaianas flip flops. Be sure to check out our Havaianas Flip Flops Page HERE which has photos, videoes and information about the famous Havaianas.
Here's the latest news on Havaianas from Bing;

MANILA, Philippines - Nothing beats the work of two creative minds working together to create something new.

 The team-up of a clever architect and an inventive engineer results in a state-of-the-art building; a collaboration of an expressive songwriter and a gifted singer creates a hit pop song; and when one of New York’s most celebrated designers works with the world’s favorite flip-flops brand, they come up with an innovative yet fashionable slippers.

 These surprised the crowd at the recent New York Fashion Week when Michael Bastian and Havaianas unveiled their shared passion for casual luxury with the newest Michael Bastian + Havaianas Collection.

 “I’ve always been a big admirer of Havaianas,” said Michael Bastian. ‘’They’ve become a global brand by focusing on one thing, but doing it simply and perfectly. It’s a real honor and incredibly fun to have this chance to work together.”

 Part of Bastian’s Spring 2011 Men’s Collection, this new limited edition of stylish flip-flops fuses the comfort and style for which Havaianas is known with the classic and modern American aesthetic of Michael Bastian.

 Featuring four styles inspired by two distinct motifs, the Michael Bastian + Havaianas Collection highlights deep-sea exploration and an exclusive leopard/camouflage pattern. The scuba influence is showcased in two sandals featuring the colors neon orange and yellow with diver graphics, while the leopard camouflage is printed on the foot bed in two color ways—military olive and slate gray.

 “Havaianas became a fashion brand by constantly introducing new interpretations of our core sandals,” said Afonso Sugiyama, president of Havaianas USA. “Michael Bastian has a unique talent to infuse fresh perspectives into our classic sandal design, and we are very excited to work with him. This collaboration will be a highlight of our renewed Men’s line.”

 The creative minds of Havaianas and Michael Bastian fused together have, indeed, brought one fashionable flip-flops collection that highlights the brand’s originality, style, and comfort.

The alternative Singapore Formula 1 weekend guide in Your Havaianas F1 Flip Flops

Welcome to our Havaianas Flip Flops blog. We update this blog daily with news and information about the wonderful Havaianas flip flops. Be sure to check out our Havaianas Flip Flops Page HERE which has photos, videoes and information about the famous Havaianas.
Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
If the thought of the Singapore Grand Prix's burnt-rubber stench, exhaust fumes and roaring engines is your idea of hell, here are a few alternative things to do with your weekend
The Singapore GP Formula One race may be the biggest, most spectacular event of the year, but it’s also loud, crowded and happening at the end of a hectic working week -- and did we mention how humid it’s been? Fortunately, there’s a lot going on away from the track.
Swap your ticket for an alternative F1 weekend or supplement your race schedule with these off-track activities.
Fullerton Bay Hotel Poolside at the Fullerton Bay Hotel.
Instead of the Green Room (three-Day pass) for S$3,745, splurge on a posh weekend at one of Singapore’s newest hotels.
Make like the members of the Renault team and check in with your Piquadro cabin luggage (S$845) to the Fullerton Bay Hotel. For S$1,900 you’ll get two nights in a bay-view room, which opens to the unforgettable sight of Clifford Pier and the Marina Bay Sands on the horizon.
The price includes access to the hotel’s private viewing gallery with an unobstructed view of the track’s electrifying hairpin turn.
For a closer view of the turn, troop across the street to Le Saint Julien where chef Julien Bompard has put together a five-course menu paired with Mumm champagne -- the official F1 bubbly -- for S$268 (plus taxes).
Watch as Schumacher and gang whizz by while you nibble on salmon rilettes and slow-cooked pork loin with a glass of Champagne in hand. End the night back at the hotel with a nightcap at Lantern. Order the Southside, which includes Tanqueray 10 gin, mint and lime (S$28) and reflect on the day’s activities.
Total cost: Approximately S$3,042
Galleria Italiana, #02-28 Orchard Central, tel +65 6238 1051.
The Fullerton Bay Hotel, 80 Collyer Quay, tel +65 6222 8021.
Le Saint Julien, The Fullerton Waterboat House, tel +65 6534 5947.
Lantern, Rooftop The Fullerton Bay Hotel, 80 Collyer Quay, tel +65 6222 8021.

GO! Avalon The Chemical Brothers will perform at GO!
Spend S$598 for a three-day pass at the Padang Grandstand or ... dress like a racer and party like a rock star. While it makes no sense to walk around in an actual racing suit, put together your own version.
For the Ferrari fans, splash out on a Prancing Horse shirt (S$119) and other memorabilia (prices range from S$19-S$8,000) from the newly opened Ferrari store.
Race week also means traffic will be at its worst, so pack a pair of limited edition Havianas’ F1 flip-flops (S$49.90) in to get about on foot in style.
Designed exclusively for Singapore, the flip flop has been given a makeover with a stylish black foot bed, bright red straps and emblazoned with the signature white Havaianas logo.
Continue the racing theme with a hand at the Red Bull Night Race wheel changing game at Le Noir. Put your pit crew skills to the test and you might just win the chance to tour the Red Bull Racing garage during the Singapore Grand Prix.
When night falls, party on at GO! A two-day music event, headlined by the likes of The Chemical Brothers, and the synth-pop Aussie outfit, Empire of the Sun. A VIP pass for both days is S$350 and comes with open bar privileges.
Total cost: Approximately S$518.90
Ferrari, #01-60/61 The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Avenue, tel +65 6688 7117.
Havaianas, #B2-42 ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, tel +65 6238 8228.
Red Bull Night Race (20-23 September), Le Noir, #01-01, Clarke Quay, 3C River Valley Road, tel +65 6333 9973.
Go! Avalon (23 & 24 September), Marina Bay Sands, 8 Bayfront Avenue.

Table 66 Seared Foie gras, berry compote, sliced mango on sushi rice, served with G.H. Mumm Rose.
For the majority, the Walkabout Sunday pass (S$128) has been the best compromise to attend the night race. But after two years of walking, running and jumping to try and catch a glimspe of the cars, it might be time for an alternative agenda.
Treat yourself to a four-course G.H. Mumm Dining Experience meal at Table 66 (S$98 plus taxes). One taste of chef Vincent Teng’s seared foie gras with berries and mango on sushi rice paired with rose bubbly and you’ll be glad you’re sitting and eating rather than running around chasing photo opps around the track.
Still, no Formula 1 period should be without F1 spirit, so bag yourself a 2010 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix miniature trophy. Made by Royal Selangor and designed by Singaporean artist Zulkiflie Mahmod, the four-centimeter tall trophy is a piece of the action for just S$25.
Total cost: Approximately S$123
Royal Selangor, 177A River Valley Road, tel +65 6268 9600.
Table 66, 66 Tras St, tel +65 6225 6690.
Pan Pacific Singapore Entries for the Singapore GP Recycle Challenge 2010.
You could spend S$38 on a Walkabout Pass (September 24) or you could spend it at the Orchard Hotel where the same money buys you as much wine as you can drink at Intermezzo.
Once you’re seeing double, clear your head with a walk down to the Grand Prix Singapore Sound Park, outside ION Orchard and get busy behind the decks of a super-sized DJ console. There’s also a 13-meter long Soundbox for an immersive Formula 1 sound and multi-media experience.
But to get a feel of the F1 without forking out a cent, check out the replica cars at the Singapore GP Recycle Challenge. The life-size replicas made out of recycled materials by students are almost like the real thing, just minus the multi-million dollar engines and made out of cardboard boxes, bamboo sticks and drink cartons.
Total cost: S$38
Intermezzo, Orchard Hotel, 442 Orchard Road, tel +65 6734 7766.
Grand Prix Singapore Sound Stage. Till 27 September, 10:30 a.m.-10.30 p.m. ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn.
Singapore GP Recycle Challenge. Till 30 September, 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Singapore Flyer, 30 Raffles Avenue; 8.30 a.m. – 10 p.m., Singapore Flyer. 30 Raffles Ave, tel +65 6333 3311.

Here's the latest news about Havaianas Flip Flops;
havaianasinvierno
